Mortal Kombat unleashed across more than 3.8 million homes in its opening weekend and has shown promise as the next big cinematic franchise.

Warner Bros.

So, here’s a closer look at the cast:

1. Lewis Tan as Cole Young

Tan is no stranger to the world of geeky films, because, in 2018, he played X-Force member Shatterstar in Deadpool 2. When he was not hailing from the planet Mojo World, he also Gaius Chau in AMC’s Into The Badlands. His next project is called Fistful of Vengence, set to release in December.

2. Hiroyuki Sanada as Scorpion

Sanada, 60, saw the concept for aging and said “no thank you.” He’s been acting (and kicking ass on screen) since the ’60’s and still looks ready for a fight. He has had roles in American projects such as The Wolverine, Avengers: Endgame, Westworld, and Lost.

3. Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade

McNamee, an Aussie native, has starred in The Meg, The Vow, and Battle of the Sexes. She has also appeared in a bunch of TV series like Sirens, The Time of Our Lives, and Packed to the Rafters.

4. Joe Taslim as Sub-Zero

Loved for his role in The Raid: Redemption, Taslim, brings the freeze in Mortal Kombat. He also had roles in Star Trek Beyond and Fast & Furious 6. Most recently, he has had a prominent role as Li Yong in HBO show Warrior.

5. Mehcad Brooks as Jax

Eggs from True Blood all grown up, Brooks has found success in other television series like Supergirl and Desperate Housewives. Not many can pull off the mustache, but this man really pulled it off with Jax.

8. Max Huang as Kung Lao

Known more for stunts, Huang has a killer look as Kung Lao. Hopefully, this is his breakout moment as an actor (if that’s what he wants). He has also done stunt work for other big films like The Foreigner, Hitman: Agent 47, and Kingsman: The Secret Service.

9. Chin Han as Shang Tsung

Warner Bros. / @thechinhan / / Via

Han has a “lifetime pass” for me since his role as Lau in The Dark Knight. I can listen to him say “Finish them!” all day. You may also recognize him from his roles in Contagion, Skyscraper, Ghost in a Shell, and the Netflix series Marco Polo.

10. Sisi Stringer as Mileena

Warner Bros. / Studio 10 / Via

Her presence was impossible to ignore from the first trailer. Stringer will hopefully be a staple in the Mortal Kombat series going forward…no matter what realm she comes from.

11. Tadanobu Asano as Lord Raiden

Warner Bros. / Movieclips Coming Soon / Via

Asano is probably most recognizable for his role as Hogun in the Thor movies. Hopefully, praying to the Elder Gods, Asano will play a huge role in the Mortal Kombat story going forward.
